We discovered the border town of Kasindi in 2013, to where many internally displaced people have been fleeing from rebel violence. We purchased land in Kasinda in 2016, and we built a small hospital, which we opened in 2018. We have added a fresh water well, 12 solar panels and an ultrasound machine, training several staff to use this in 2023. We have also added an operating theatre, staff quarters and a laboratory block. As a result we are treating many sick adults and children each month, predominantly very poor internally displaced people. We now wish to add an x-ray facility, and can acquire a basic system for £22,905 with a charity discount. This will enhance the care we offer and provide an income stream, as we can charge a very small amount from those who can afford it, helping the sustainability of the project. X-ray facilities are critical to good health-care. We cannot treat trauma or chest disease without it.
So we ran a charity ball here in Heswall on Friday 9th May 2025. We raised over £18,000 and other gifts are coming in. Thank you so much to everyone who helped!
